The Bleak and DeVlieg 实习 at Taylor Wilderness 研究 Station offer exciting educational opportunities and provide a transformative wilderness experience. You will learn valuable skills to help prepare you for work or graduate school.

Educational Opportunities

Working with a faculty mentor, you will develop an individual research project or participate in a long-term monitoring project. As an intern you will expand your knowledge of wilderness areas and gain extensive field experience. You will learn from faculty who provide short courses covering topics such as wilderness ethics and 管理, historical and cultural aspects of the area, 统计数据, vegetation and restoration ecology and ethnobotany. You will also have an opportunity to interact with scientists and professionals from a variety of disciplines.

资格

TWRS internships are open to upcoming juniors, seniors and returning senior-level University of Idaho students. Interns must be resourceful, 自我激励, enjoy the physical work associated with field research in a remote setting and have enthusiasm for the work involved in field station residence and facility maintenance. Interns must be able to work independently, 与他人, and while following the direction of faculty mentors or station managers.

Interns must be capable of backcountry trail and off-trail hiking.

期限及薪金

Interns will live and work at the station for ten weeks under the supervision of faculty mentors and field station managers. Interns will earn $3,000 for the 10-week period. The internship will also pay for the required summer internship credit. Lodging at the station and one round-trip plane flight from Cascade to Taylor Ranch are provided. Interns are responsible for supplying their own food.

The application process will include submittal of your resume, a list of three references and a letter of application describing your interest in the internship, and outlining your skills and experience in outdoor settings.
